Mental Health Week is a national celebration that highlights the importance of social connection and its impact on mental wellbeing. At COMPAS, we recognise the vital link between social determinants and mental health, using this opportunity to promote preventative strategies that support individuals and communities in staying mentally healthy and resilient.

About COMPAS

COMPAS is a suicide prevention program here at Curtin. Using our survey, we identify those who may be struggling and reach out early to try to offer support and services where we can.

What if I’m struggling?

There are a number of resources you can access right here at Curtin. Visit the link below for a full list of in-person and online resources that may be suitable for you.

What role can I play?

If you’re a first-year student you can take part in our survey that helps us to develop the most effective suicide prevention program we can. Scan the QR code to participate or click here to access the survey .

  • Start the conversation today - Every chat, no matter how small, builds a more supportive and understanding society.

  • Check in with a loved one - Look out to people you think might be struggling and don’t be afraid to ask how they are going, listening in, offering support, and encouraging they seek help and further support if needed

  • Keep informed - Consider accessing training opportunities such as workshops to better identify and support those that may need it

  • Advocate for mental health awareness - casual conversations, using social media, and local events are all options that you can use to promote good mental health

How else can I contribute?
